This website is operated by the Spiritual Assembly of the Baháʼís of the North Vancouver District (“we”, “us”, “our”). We respect your privacy and handle personal information in keeping with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). This policy explains what information we collect through northvandistrictbahai.org, why we collect it, and the choices available to you.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you use the contact form on our Get Involved page, we collect your first and last name, email address, the subject of your message, and the message itself. You choose what to include in your message, so please avoid sharing sensitive details that are not needed to answer your inquiry.
Information collected automatically. When you submit the form, our form software also records your IP address and basic browser information with your submission. Like most websites, our hosting provider and security tools keep limited technical logs (such as IP address, date and time, and pages requested) to protect the site from abuse and keep it running properly.
We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
How we use your information
We use the information you send us only to:
- read and respond to your inquiry by email;
- connect you, if you ask, with Baháʼí community activities in the North Vancouver District; and
- protect the website and its forms from spam, fraud and other misuse.
We will not add you to a mailing list or newsletter unless you ask to be added. We do not sell, rent or trade personal information.
Our website host and email provider store this information on our behalf, and some of it may be stored outside Canada.
Spam and security protection
To keep automated spam and attacks away from our forms and website, we use Cloudflare, including its Cloudflare Turnstile service. When you visit a page that contains our form, Turnstile runs a brief, usually invisible check to confirm that a person, not an automated program, is submitting it. To do this, Cloudflare may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device characteristics, and how the page is interacted with. Cloudflare uses this information to provide its security services and does not use it to show you advertising. You can read more in Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
Our website also uses a hidden “honeypot” field on the form to help screen out spam. It does not collect any information about you.
Cookies
This website does not use cookies for advertising or analytics. A small number of strictly necessary cookies may be set for security purposes (for example, when Cloudflare verifies a visitor) and for site administrators who log in to manage the website.
How long we keep information
We keep form submissions and related emails only for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and follow up on your inquiry. Technical and security logs are kept for limited periods.
How we protect information
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, firewall and malware protection, spam filtering, and access to form submissions limited to the people who need it to respond to inquiries. No method of transmitting or storing information online is completely secure, but we work to protect the information entrusted to us.
Your choices and rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, subject to any legal requirements. Our website may link to other websites, such as the Baháʼí Faith’s official sites or social media pages. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
